What he said was, the length of the arc from eye to eye is not a fixed number. It will vary from one manufacturer to another and from one set of leaf springs to another, based on the leaf pack design, leaf pack construction, leaf spring rate/load capacity, and wear/sag.
Wouldn't the variance in spring lengths for a specific ride height be related directly to the angle of the shackle? In that case, there is a specific maximum variance equal to the arc length of a stock shackle.
Whatever the case, If you have a 4-5" lift, can you just measure the arc length and tell me what spring it is. Let me worry about all the other bits.
