What is This Vacuum Line?

I have a plugged vacuum line in my engine bay. It goes under the Jeep but I haven't crawled under it and followed it yet. Anyone have any idea what it is?

EDIT: Info on the Jeep might help. 98 Limited AW4 D30/35

this.

that's not a plug, it's actually a vented cap with a little filter inside of it. it's to vent off gasses that build up as the oil in the differential heats up. it is where it's supposed to be although I would move it back and zip tie it to the wiring harness, it shouldn't be sitting against the intake manifold.

Ditto. Looks like a previous owner stumbled across the vent tube for the front diff, thought it was a vac line, and plugged it. Not a huge problem... it really should be open and turned downward to equalize the pressure.

EDIT: It also may have a filter cap on it and be OK as it is.... lol.

Looked it up in my parts list and that white "plug" is the factory part known as:

Part Number: J535 2955 Nomenclature: VENT, Axle, Upper

Make sure that cap can wiggle around.

If it's full of crud and blocked it could potentially cause a leak.
