Changed fuel pump yesterday.

Yesterday I change the fuel pump on my 98 xj I6. Before I changed it the tank had 1/4 tank of fuel left, and after I installed the new fuel pump and put the tank back under the jeep my fuel gauge read 3/8ths of a tank:confused:. I'm pretty sure I didn't just magically gain 2 more gallons of gas. Is it possible that the new pump is reading the fuel level wrong?

Maybe both the old and new are or were reading wrong. Maybe one was wrong and the other was right. After a few fill-ups, it should be easy to determine if the new one is close enough to correct.

The new metal rod with the float on it is bent differently than the old one. You need to make sure both rods are bent the same (Or close) when you install them.
