Oil pump pickup install help

Ok so i'm almost finished with the bottom end of my 4.0l but i'm having a bit of a time removing the oil pump pickup tube off the old pump to reinstall it to my new pump. Anyone got any good advice?? I searched the forum a bit but didn't find anything i could use.

I just bought a new pickup tube when I replace my oil pump a year or so ago. Those buggers are really stuck in there!

Buy a new one. they are cheap and clean. for your clean new pump. dont forget to fill the pump with lubriplate or vaseline

x2 Don't reuse the pickup tube. No need to fill the pump with something as you will be priming the engine prior to fire up with a drill.

New pickup tube. Crank new engine over with CPS disconnested til oil pressure registers on gauge. Plug CPS back in . Fire it off. Vaseline is for the bedroom, not the garage.
