I have an 89 xj with an inline 6 and the black middle wire keeps on melting.... I've replaced the. icm and that pigtail 3 times now and still can't find out what's wrong ... Any ideas??? And does any one know the pinout for thougs icm?

Maybe a bad ground? I had one that kept doing this but I replaced the whole coil (base included) and the plug and didn't have the issue reoccur. I thought it was a fluke caused by water.

Why would a bad ground cause a primary HV spark wire to melt?

Are there any other symptoms at all? Who is supplying the wires?

Those wires should be the last thing melt since they are silicone, high temp!!!

Does the jeep run?

Or is it some other black Middle wire?????:laugh3:
