Adopt a Newbie Program

This year will consist of some major changes, with the same goal of helping 'newbies' in all areas of wheeling and winterfest.

The way we are approching the AAN (adopt a newbie) program is in classroom form. We will line up like all the other trail groups prior to the drivers meeting, however before leaving for our trail run we will have aprox an hour of information, demonstration and q&a.

Anyone is able to participate, reguardless of their rigs ability or their personal knowledge of off roading. We all will be running green trail and have at minimum of 3 'big brothers' to assist with the classroom and trail run.

This will happen on FRIDAY ONLY.

Currently the BB's will be myself, Nate (87manche) and Josh (XJosh95).

Please post up any questions and interest. More info to come as we make it up. :D

This is actually a really cool program. I participated in it last year since it was my first winterfest and it's a good way to get to know a few people as well. Would greatly recommend it to anyone who is attending winterfest for the first time.

Keep up the good work guys.

On that note I would like to encourage any member to come and run it with us. Even if you're not a newbie it's a great way to interact with new members and to introduce people to wheeling.

Obviously we're trying to keep the group to a reasonable size, so newbies will get precedence.

For the n00bs:

These are the vehicle requirements:

All vehicles must have the following equipment to attend the off road portion of MWC sponsored events:

• Legally required automobile insurance and registration;
• Visibly charged Fire extinguisher;
• First Aid Kit;
• Tow strap (no metal hooks allowed);
• Safety belts anchored to factory mounts or vehicle frame;
• Spare tire, jack, and lug wrench;
• Adequate tow points both front and rear, properly attached. NO welded hooks allowed.
• CB Radio

Also.....your battery MUST be securely mounted, YES we will check.

If you have any questions about tech ask now! We will be strict on tech, and I will fail you for not having proper tow points and the required equipment. There is no negotiation, this is a safety thing.

Adequate tow points means factory brackets or something equivalent. They CANNOT be bolted into just the 3 bumper mount holes, it is not strong enough and they WILL tear off the frame and your bumper. They MUST reach back and at least grab the factory holes with some sort of reinforcement plate.

Again, if you have questions contact someone. We are here to help everyone have a fun and safe event.

Well since I seem to finally have the time to make this one, and have never been to a real offroad park, I guess I qualify as a newbie. Won't have my tow rig/camper ready so I'll have to stay at a hotel.

You may need to seek lodging with another member. Either at the park or something. I don't know for sure because I never camp, but the population of Attica almost doubles when we get there (not really). So it may be in your best interest to check with the local hotels asap. They could be booked.

...or you could become a member of NAXJA and qualify for free camping. Bring a tent and an electric heater and youre good to go.

When you register, mark the noobie run for friday.

Dan.

x2

but bring an electric blanket, they work better than heater in the tent, especially if windy.

I plan on becoming a member, but I don't own a tent lol. I could clean most of the crap out of my jeep and could sleep in the back though.
