Axle swap advice

I got a great deal on a LP dana 30 w/ 4:10s and an ARB, no shafts, knuckles or brakes. I was wondering what your thoughts were on my options. I'm having a shop install 4:88s in both ends this winter. Right now I'm running stock gears and 33's w/ AW4. This is a semi-daily driver. I would like to run 4:10s until the 4:88 swap in February.

1. Swap in the LP 30 , re-gear the 8.25 to 4:10

2. Swap the LP30 gears and ARB (is that possible?) into my HP 30 , re-gear the 8.25 to 4:10

3. Wait until I re-gear to 4:88s to do anything.

You can swap the carrier (ARB in your case) between LP and HP without a problem.

What I would do is hold off on doing anything until you regear.

Put the ARB and 4.88s in the HP30, and sell the LP30 along with the carrier out of your HP30 for a reasonable price (so someone with some knowledge of gearing can reset the backlash and have cheap 4.10s.

Your low pinion gears will not work in the high pinion housing so you will need to wait for the regear.
