Brake part interchange ablity

I got a 96 4x4 with the 4.0L I am getting ready to regear, sleave, truss, and Gusset my D30. I have an axle out of an 88 i want to throw under it while i work on the project.

My question is will the 96 brake parts swap to the 88. The 88 brakes look scary at best and the 96 are brand newish less than 4000 miles

You'll have to swap out the knuckles. I just put a 88 Dana 30 in mine. the calipers are beefier in the 88's dana. (or at least appear so) The knuckles will swap over if you're set on keeping the 96 brakes. The brake lines mated right up with the older calipers so I didn't have to buy new ones. Hope that helps.
