check engine light

my check engine light just came on right at 55000 mi is this just coincidence or something else it now seems to idle real high I was also super low on gas when it happened, if this has anything to do with it any info would be greatly appreciated

I have always seen it mentioned that a bad oxygen sensor can cause this, but without pluging into one of the engine computers to see what is wrong, I have no real clue.

I suppose it is just a bad sensor some place.

That's about the same time mine started acting up on occasion. AutoZone will check the computer code for you at no cost. They can even clear it the code that tripped the check engine light.
