sealing the diff cover, axle shaft seal, or the pinion seal?

differential cover only
- Location

empty fluid completely and wipe any excess gear oil from the bottom so it doesnt run out continuously. thoroughly clean the surface of the diff and the cover and make sure there is no RTV or gasket material on either. apply a thin coat of RTV to the cover and diff and put the cover on snugly tightening the bolts evenly. wait a while before filling with fluid.
