ok i have a 98 cherokee gauges worked then one morning went to fire it up and the gauges are dead. I have checked like everything the only thing that works is directional lights and high low beam indicator the jeep runs fine but just no instrument cluster

Search for " no-bus",and pound on the dash!!!!

IF the problem is the bus connectors that the instrument cluster plug into then you can try what has worked for me the past 12 years.
Using the directional selector with the ignition in the ON or RUN position make a right turn and the gauges should respond again. IF they don't then I would start checking for a blown fuse in the fuse panel behind the kick panel on the passenger side.

ended up being the fuse in the panel looked good but was junk, at least these newer body style ones are easy to take apart my 88 has like 900 screws.
