Just wondering. What are some of the pro's and con's of the hp50's verses the hp44's. I know that the aftermarket has very little parts support for the 50's. But other than that..?

Isn't the 50 mostly in a TTB setup? From what I've heard, the strength isn't much above the 44.

There are both TTB and straight axle versions. The ring gear is 9 inches instead of 8.5 in the 44's and they have 30 spline axles. That's about the limit of what I know about them tho.

Biggest "Con" is the limited aftermarket parts availability. Other then that, 'same 30 spline axles as the -44, with most of the weight of a full Dana-60.
'Not many real "pros", unless you come across one cheep, with gears you need, pretty much set up for what you want to do.

You can use the Dana 50 gears in your HP Dana 44... best of both worlds.

Thanks for the info. The JK d44 gears in the standard d44 case look even easier, if it works for the front set also.
