Anyone know how to do this mod on 97+??

I did this mod to my 95 and everything worked flawlessly.

Today I go to do it to 2 of my friends XJ's. A 2000 and a 2001.

The problem is in the write up it talks about using pins C16 and D15. Both of there TCU's only have 13 pins per row. Nor do they have a yellow wire.

The write up says it will work for 97+.

Does anyone have a link to a write up on how to do it on a 97+ or can simply tell me which wires I need to use.

Doing the mod to the 97-2001 will trip the check engine light.

The Montana Fab controller will not trip the CEL(according to their website) whereas the Rad Designs shifter will.

I have a Montana Fab controller, alas it is still in its shipping box waiting for the time to install it so I can't give you a real world report.

Yeah, there's no simple homebrew way to do the mod on a 2000 or 01. I fried my TCU on my 01 being and idiot and doing some bad wiring. (Had to buy a new computer.)

Use the RAD one, or use the montana fab unit if you don't want a CEL.

I plan on doing the montana unit because I can't live with the CEL, nor will it pass smog with a light on.

I have the RA Designs shifter. It throws a code but so what? The engine light clears up after a couple of starts anyway after not using it for a while. I use 2 switches to use the shifter and to use the torque lock up. :)

The Montana Fab controller works as advertised. Here's my writeup:

Go to page 3, post 44. JXMike installed the new plug&play version which doesn't require hacking the harness.

If you want to home-brew it, check this thread:

raniel and Kastein got a system working that won't throw a check engine light most of the time(really high revs still throw a code,... worth the read even if you decide to buy the controller)
