MJ values?

Seems to vary a lot by region and by the truck

I drove mine home for $400,here's how it looked when I got it.

they are still a cheap truck.

i got one of mine for free (4.0 needed a little work)

and my great condition 2.5 4 speed 2wd for $600.

they pop up on craigslist and the forums pretty constantly up here.

500-1500 seems to be the norm around here. unless there is a super nice southern truck for some reason, then they are a little more.

1988 MJ SporTruck 4x4 - 4.0L, 5-speed pukey, NP231, D30/D35, SWB - Bought for $1000 in 2000. Went under the knife in 2007 for major repairs. Currently getting a 5.9L supercharged Magnum and a 99XJ interior swap. 106K miles.

1988 MJ Pioneer 4x4 - 4.0L, AW4, NP231, D30/D35, LWB - Grandfather bought brand new from dealership then gave it to my Uncle in 1992, who then gave it to my father in 1996, but then went back to my Uncle in 2000. He parked it in a field and said it didn't run anymore. Sat there for a bit and I got it in 2004, replaced the battery and dizzy rotor and it's been a solid worktruck ever since. 78K miles.

1992 MJ Sport 2x4 - 4.0L, AX-15, D35, SWB - Traded a '91YJ straight up for it. 15 hour round trip to get it, but it runs great and has been an extremely reliable DD for me. The YJ was probably valued around $3000, but I only had $1500 into it and really wanted the prestigious '92MJ and desperately needed a running/driving pickup in good shape. Has about 240K on the original engine and a replacement AX-15.

FWIW, I bought a rust free MY88 MJ that had been imported from Colorado in 2009. Paid $1200 with a "blown" engine. We are in the rust belt so that may be a touch high given condition if it were elsewhere.

I think you can find a nice example for $1500-$2000. I've seen really nice, completely built ones with modern 4.0/interior/front clip and doors for $7k-$10k. Something to be said for saving the work if you trust it has been done properly.

If you look up a classic car pricing guide, I cant remember who from, either KBB or NADA, teh Comanche values are HUGE. My 87 with 350,000 miles 4 cyl 2wd was valued at over $7000. I paid $250 and drove it home. It has NO rust either! It all depends on what you find and being in the right place at the right time. But for a nice truck 2-3000 is not uncommon. Good luck.

Around here they go from 1000 to 4000. Usually the guys in the upper class have a modified good shape comanche or something nice and bone stoke and they think the rarity spikes the value. I guess with the added cost around here you get minimal to no rust though.

i got mine for 500 from an older guy after it had sat in his driveway for 5 years. 87 mj ba10 2wd shortbed.

I drove from Vancouver to San Diego to pick up an 87 Chief in perfect condition with a 44 rear. Got it for $2000, but that was 5 years ago. I wouldn't pay more than that for a stockish MJ.

RUnning ones with some rust go for around 1200-1500 around here. Excellent trucks go for way more than that.

I got this for $450!

No thru rust, solid bed, 2 dents on the passenger side but the motor knocks! Oh well.

I've paid many things for them on the IL/WI border... Everything from a rusted out '91 SporTruck for $150 to $1800 for a late build '92 Hunter Green Metallic 4x4 Eliminator.

One of the members at my Church drives one around all the time. I'm sure its just his transportation truck. I'd like to offer him some cash for it.
I'll need to talk to the guy.

I can actually say I have never paid for a jeep :D
