The driver rear seam where there fender meets the fender well was chopped on my xj by the previous owner, and i am wondering what my options would be.

saw ur write up, one question on the last pics, did you weld to the tub and then bend the metal upward. And what thickness did you end up using for the patch
 
On that side it fit inside the fender then I kind of just tapped the edge down over it. The other side I made it fit over the edge, welded it then trimed it down, it was much easier and turned out better. I don't know exactley the thicknes but it was just slightley thicker then the fender material.
