Transmission Filter Replacement Hangup

Hey guys I need some help figuring out how to drop my auto transmission pan. Do I disconnect the dipstick tube and if so is there a secret to it? Thanks

the tube separates a few inches up. just seals up with orings. unbolt the pan and the tubewill separate pretty easily

I usually un-do the fastener about half way up the tube. If the heep is up in the air high enough, you can guide the tube down without much difficulty. You also failed to mention the year. In '96, they made the exhaust pipe fatter, making it almost impossible to remove the pan without at least loosening the pipe at the manifold, to move it out of the way.
