hi guys...im new to the forum and have an odd question.

i have an 87 xj with the 4.0 l6 auto 4dr 4x4. recently the heep died on me, no gauges, lights, blower , turn signals, nothing....i replaced ignition switch, and cleaned the grounds.

now the jeep is running at almost 16volts, randomly dropping to almost 9 and if i turn the blower of someting is clicking and the jeep quits.....

any ideas....?

The voltage is regulated IN the alternator, I believe, so if you see 16 volts at the battery, turn it off, and don't run it again till you get another alternator. That voltage spiking up and down is likely to hurt all kinds of things in your Jeep.
