So I am going to build my bumper this week, but have a couple questions before I get started. I haven't disassembled my current bumper, but need to go and get the metal today.
The bumper is going to be rectangular box tubing with box tubing sleeved into the frame rails.
Here are my questions:
Is a 2 x 4 x 3/16 the appropriate size to sleeve the frame rails?
I was also thinking about using 3/16" for the bumper part too. That is what my front bumper is made out of. Would you go thinner or thicker gauge?
How far do you recommend inserting the tubing into the frame rails for strength? Would you just tie them into the nut strip or would you go beefier than that?
