The lower control arms take a 2 5/8 bushing.

ok and if I wanted to press them into a chunk of pipe... what size would the pipe be i.d. ?

Press what? The stock bushings? Don't know offhand. You can order the end rings for those from Rubicon Express.

The ID of the bushing sleeves is 2" if that's what you're wanting to know.

IIRC the bushing has a stepped size. A heavy wall water pipe can be used but you need to ream it out part way through. There are a couple of places that sell the steel tube that is already reamed for around $10

I am looking at this because it would be a VERY cheap option... $2 or $3 worth of pipe could make SEVERAL bushing sleeves...

What do you need a lathe for? You just grind down the bit off the bushing. The rings RE sells have no relief machined into them.

Yup, just grind down that step enough so you can press them in. You have to do it even with the end rings that RE sells for them.

I paid dearly for the proper size Seamless DOM tubing and then I machined them myself for my first set of LA's.When I made my other set of LA's I just purchased the cradles even though I still have 2' of the DOM left over,the cradles are just to cheap.

yes.. I am sure... they measured the 'ring ends' as they called them... and even confirmed that this is where you would press a new bushing into

There is no way that is pipe. Pipe has a seam, is measured on the inside, and is not precise.

Do I really need to differentiate a protruded seam in pipe from a welded, madrel-formed seam in the tubing we use?And I hate to break it to YOU, but tubing manufactured from extrusion process is seamless.

I know what to get... just not saying it right...
