tailgate window xj

I own a XJ 2000 sport 60 th anniversary. The tailgate is rusty and need to be resprayed. How is the tailgate window fixed? Just with one windowseal or is it glued to the tailgate.

Wish I could help a fellow Dutchman. My name is Dirk DeYoung (deJonghe) and my daughter's middle name is Holland. My family came to the US 3 generatins ago from the Ede area and founded South Holland Illinois.

Anyway, I have the same Jeep as you, 2001 Anniversary. As well, I have the Service Manual for this truck, and it is not addressed in the manual.

I would think that the painter could just tape off the window and respray with the glass in tact. That would keep you from removing the rear defrost also.

The window is bonded in, just like the windshield.

So it isn't a DIY job?
