pre-'97 Window Lock Fix

Ok, so I my power windows only work with the driver's switch. From what I've read it is the window lock being stuck.

I have found multiple fixes for the later year XJs but NOTHING conclusive for earlier XJs. Most of the time threads like these end with "so did anybody find something for early years?"

Can anybody please point me towards a fix to allow passengers to roll their windows up/down? Will replacing the door switch work? How about a wiring diagram so I can copy the later year bypass?

Countless searches have proved fruitless :bawl:

1993 4 Door with power windows and doors.

Checked wires behind the switch, door jam, and kick panel along with the tan wire under the driver's carpet - all look OK with no damage.

Btw, my lock switch has 2 settings - straight out and flipped down...where it sticks instead of bouncing back to the horizontal setting. It is sort of like a toggle switch. Is that how it is supposed to be?

I got a hold of the proper wiring diagrams and will be trying to compare the colors of the 97+ cherokees and the 93. I will then proceed to do the fix outlined in the following links.

I'll report back but if this doesn't work I don't know where else to look. If I cannot fix it with the bypass, I think I will pick up another switch.

Yup, thats how mine is on my '91. Mine works btw

And locked is the down position?

Yep. Yes sir indeed it is. I always hit it down by accident then wonder for 10 mins why I can't get them to roll down....:looney:
