D44 rear axle width

I have a rear D44 out of an 87 Grand Wagoneer which I *think* is 60.5" wide. My friend has some Superior axles he's taking out of his TJ which I *think* is 61.25 wide. If my ASSumptions are right, can I use the axles in my D44 even thought they are .375" wider each? I can get them for a fair price... just not sure I can use them.
Any thoughts?

Bumping for one more shot. I think there won't be a problem... just would like a little confirmation.

Probably won't be able to use them, at least in stock form. The ends of the shafts will run into the cross shaft in the carrier. There is a chance you can have them cut down if the splines are long enough that they won't bottom out.

If the splines are long enough I would just cut them down with a chopsaw.

Just go slow and don't heat up the shaft too much.

Are you switching bolt patterns?

Waggy 6 on 5.5" bolt circle
TJ 5 on 4.5" bolt circle.

I have previously had the Waggy axle's bolt patter re-drilled to 5 on 4.5.

10-4. It didn't say so I wasn't sure if this might be an issue.
