8.25 axle

A mate of mine is seling a detroit for a 29 chrysler 8.25 axle.
What i want to know is will the 29 spline shafts and detroit fit in to a 27 spline casing using the original ring and pinion from the 27.

it will, but you will have to get a pair of 29 spline shafts.

yea that not a problem, as the detroit is cheap will get a pair of uprated shafts.

may want to look into the shaft diamaters as well. if they arent the same, you will need to change your seals and such as well. but you should invest in a master install kit if you are doing the ring and pinion anyway.

the axle seals and and axle bearings are the same on 27 and 29. the diameter is at the spline area. 27 spline 1.17 inches. 29 spline 1.21 carrier bearing and cups are the same between 27 and 29. all they did was machine the inside axle shaft bore in the carrier and use lager side gears.but if you have it apart at least replace the axle seals .
