ford 9" question

i'm just about to start a ford 9" and dana 44 swap into my cherokee, and i was wondering if the driveshaft U joints are the correct size for the ford 9" and dana 44 yokes? Or if some one could point me in the right dirrect of a good built with this swap. Also looking for good information on disc brake conversion for the ford 9" thanks. happy new year.

Search Advanced tech, there's a few builds there. Pretty sure there's a few in Mod tech as well.

im starting on doing this exact same swap. i checked today and the front stock xj u joint work with the d44. (i got a 77 f140 hp44). not exactly sure on the rear 9" though.

i just did this swap, i had to change my rear ujoint on my shaft from 1310/1310 to 1310/1330.

It all depnds on the yoke. I just did 9's front and rear in mine, my rear yoke was a 1350 so I ran a 1310/1350 conversion joint (spicer p/n 5-460x). The front was a 1310 so the same as a D30. 1330's and 1350 are obviously larger, if you have questions on what you have just put the ujoint in the yoke and it should be pretty clear. Now the difference between 1330 and 1350 are a litle harder. I really doubt you will ever find a 1330 on a D44 and really doubt you will find a 1350 on a 9" unless they have been swapped out. I think car and early bronco 9" were 1310 F150 and Full Size broncos are 1330.

Here is a useful link.

The F150 supercabs have a 1350 yoke on the 9", Ive got one sitting on the shelf right now. I got a 79 F150 supercab axle set years ago, and got a F250 front axle near the same time. Theyre the same front housings, different knuckles. I dont remember which one it came from, but I did also have a 1350 front dana 44 yoke. At one point or another, I have had a 1310, 1330, and 1350 D44 yoke, so one can be found to fit for sure. Ive got a 1310 yoke on the HP 44 Ive got now though. Ive still got that stock 9" 1350 yoke as a spare since I am using a forged aftermarket unit now, but its nice to have.

Most should have a 1330 yolk. The conversion joint can be picked up at most auto stores. I have found them at multiple places here.
