just put my engine back in my jeep about a month ago. heres whats happened.
i have three xjs. this one i was hoping was going to be the best of them all.
1996 cherokee 2 door auto aw4 HO. i i bought it with a blown head. got a head from the junkyard and rebuilt it then dropped it in. then drove it for a couple of months and while speeding quite badly down the freeway i threw rods 1 and two. that motor was junk. then i got a block from a 98 and put new seals and motor mounts and a melling high flow oil pump in. painted nice and put it all back in.
driving up the freeway through some inclines at 70 75 and the car was getting warm and weak. then the noise. its consistant whether sitting or under load at 2,000 rpm and up. it sounds like piston slap on number three. just curious if anyone has encountered the same thing and has any suggestions.
thanks in advance
