Waggy front clip swap with a twist...

So I've been working on a front end swap... i've always liked the waggy front end with the stacked head lights. My fiberglass fenders had more of the old style body lines to them and didn't line up with my late model front end for crap. So I decided to go for it, why not.

The main thing I did different was painted all the chrome to give it more of the "sport" look. It's not completely done, but close. Here's some pics of it so far...

So i picked up a header panel and grille locally... it fits better than the old front end as far as hood and fenders lining up.

Masked, sanded, prepped and painted the grill and header panel...

Gave my winch some bling while I was at it....:D

I picked up some bezels from a fellow Naxja member, painted thmm last night but havent gotten pics yet. Should have some tonight and will post them up! I def. like the look of the waggy front clip more, and it's different.

Definitely interested in seeing how this turns out!

Here's how it's looking so far... i still need to find some marker lights, I was hoping they'd be the same. I tried a set I have out of 94' and they're wider and shorter. So if anybody knows of any give me a shout.

Looks sharp!
I've always liked the waggy 4 headlight grills.

I agree, I like it a lot.

Just a heads up on the waggy marker lights. Yes they are different as you already found out, but they aren't the most common parts to have sitting around, and no one makes new ones. Its probably not going to be a cake walk to find them.

try them before they sell out. there was a place in Western, MA that had 4 sets on the shelf as of a year ago, but who knows if they're still around. I had a customer with a broken set and we searched the OE # on the back and that's how we found the place.

http://www.cjmotorparts.com/ those guys also show them under part number 56001528/56001529

Thanks for the tips! I'll see what they still have.

Looks good man. I like it a lot better without the chrome.

nice! I would have kept the chrome (I hate all chrome on jeeps except for early 90's Laredo's, and waggy's ;)). That blue looks awesome though.

I painted an old M6000 to match my dads white TJ, definitely gives it a good look.

Thanks for your help on this. They had a set in stock and shipped today!! :yelclap:

you're welcome! glad to help! which site had them?

the dodge whole sale site did. He had to get shipped to him first, he received them today, confirmed they were right and shipped them out today to me. Should have them in a few days.

I got on car-parts.com just to see what I could find and guys were asking 35.00 bucks A PIECE for them, and they were used. Are these parts really that hard to find?

I am into these two NEW ones 30.00 including shipping.

I am into the entire swap 120.00 including new lights. Not too bad.

those are hard to find...no one makes them aftermarket so NOS and used are all that's left. I just ordered a set as I'm sure they'll come in handy some day for a friend/customer at some point.

damn those side markers really tie it together.

We all saw it when you got ROTM... nice rig and clean simple work to make it just a little different. Kudos

Re: Waggy front clip

wow, am I glad I found this post... I've got a waggy front end in my crawlspace that is gonna be worked on this winter... this thread has the best pics of a waggy conversion I've seen. Thanks.

I like the front bumper better now that its silver... a nice contrast and it really shows the four headlights.

I have been looking for a headlight upgrade for the waggy lights as well... as far as I can tell, these Chevy / GMC custom lights would fit. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cd/full.aspx?page=63 They look like basic headlight conversions with newer bulbs. They are 150mm, just like the waggy ones. something to consider.
