Hi all,

doing my first rear main seal job on my 99 xj with about 150K miles and wanted a little feedback.

How many of you who have done the RMS replaced the crank bearings (or more like crank pads)?

What should I look for while I'm replacing the RMS?

At what point should the crank bearings be replaced? I noticed BARELY any lines of wear and there's one spot that looks weird in the light.

That bearing looks good. The only thing I would question is that spot right in the middle. Looks like there could be some dirt under the bearing shell. I wouldn't worry about it though.
