renix 5speed swap

Lost third in my 88 5 speed yesterday. I am pretty sure it is just a shift fork but not entirely sure. tranny has a good amount of miles on it from what i can tell.
motor only has 20k sense rebuild but tranny was not rebuilt.

I have what we think is a 1990 4.0 with a 5 speed and only 100k on the jeep.
Title is lost. may be a 91.

it doesn't start anymore due to being dismantled but i drove it in a parking lot about two weeks ago.

My question is this are all the 5 speeds the same or did different years use different manual transmission? i would like to swap the transmission and t-case into my jeep. if its a straight swap. i can get the tranny for pretty cheap. and i know its good. so i would like to just swap a lower mileage tranny rather than fixing the one currently in the jeep

The renix came with the peugeot 5sp POS, the thing really sucks. Now i dont know for sure when they changed to using the AX15 but you want that trans.

I assume you have the 4.0L in your 88 right? The trans from the 90 will bolt right up but the slave style may be different. Should be an easy fix if it is.

i was wondering the same thing? does anybody know if the swap can be done or how much do you have to modify. clutch?, Slave cylinder?,231 transfercase?, crossmeber?. I am interested in finding out myself.

All XJs with the 4.0 5 speed manual with a production date POST 3-9-89 have the AX-15; prior to that the 4.0 5-speed combo was the Peugeot BA 10/5.

do you know of any threads about this swap you could give me the link to. im having trouble finding anything about the swap. the search feature is not giving me any results when i search

so i have gotten an idea of what all goes into this swap.

i will need the cross member
tranny
t-case
driveline
and the hoses for the slave cylinder.

Is there anything else i should get off the donor truck?
