MFG'd 5/96 will it have a 27 or 29 spline shaft in the 8.25?

I believe the 29 spline shafts started in 1997. So you would probably have the 27 spline. This might not be right, this is just what I have read in the past.

Most 96's Ive seen are 29 spline,but with Jeep you never know!

My 96 had 27 spline shafts,built 12/95. Only real way to be sure is to pull it down and count.

Unfortunately unless the paper ID label is still on the passenger side axle tube you will probably have to remove the axle and count the splines...
Your build month/year was when Chrysler went from 27 to 29 spline axles.
