Mud flaps for an XJ?

Anyone ever put mud flaps--front or back--on an XJ? I'd like to keep the rocks and crud off the paint job. Also, when driving through snow and slush during winter, ice forms inside the rear bumper and rear quarter panels just in front of the bumper. (This is mostly a daily driver, with a little rock crawling, but no serious mudding.)

Anyone see a problem with this?

Thanks.

They were a factory option. Take a look at:

I could see them being prone to being torn off as you come down off of a rock, but otherwise, no.

I just sold a set from my '01
I have a set of rears that look more like the pre '97 style but are made to fit 97-01 if you're interested.
Caution: if you wheel at all they will not stay on for long.
