So it sounds like some people want to run Providence canyon, we are thinking Sun the 24th.
not sure on the time just yet we will figure it out, when we know who is coming. this will probably be the last time to run this trail before snow falls.
post up if you would like to go, we will be meeting at Macey's in Providence.

With a 3 week old child at home, I am not sure I can do it anyway, but I'll try:viking:

I have since looked up some trip reports on it. I should check it out for sure, but it may not be this time. We'll see!

I would say we should meet at the South gate visitor's center, I think that is the closest for us all. This is my first time to Providence canyon, but I have been to Logan so I guess you can lead the way. Should be a good time. I don't think I am going to be able to make it to your house today, only option would be tomorrow morning, due to my wife making other plans for us. The brakes have been fine for the last month so I think they should be good to go. I will do it in the future though that is for sure.

No problem. With a drill and the right bit we could do it on the trail in ten min. It really is that easy. Can you get to the Visitor center without actually entering the base? I can't remember. I know where it is. I used to work at that Pizza Hut.

Yeah you can just stay in the right lane as you pull up to the gate, than turn right into the visitors center. If it is that easy maybe we can do it at mayceys while we wait to leave.

Or not...
I just spent the last twenty min looking for the heli-coil kit. I saw it last week and now its gone.
If I can't find it by morning we will have to bag it until I can.
Unless you want to buy one. It's stupid though because they want over $30 bucks for the kit which comes with about 20 heli coils and you only need one.

Tripod mounted using my 18-200 set at about 40MM. We were actually on the other side of the stream. If you look at the last photo in pecsxj's set, I was standing about three feet to the left of him (or right)

Good luck navigating his website. It sucks. LOL
If I remember right I paid about 450 for mine.
The pros are that its fairly light weight, the mounting system is second to none and the price is decent.
The cons are getting ahold of Terry. If you end up buying one and he tells you three weeks, plan on eight. If he tells you eight, plan on twelve.
The guy is retired and would much rather be out playing than he would working on bumpers.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be a fun trip. Just kind of disapointed in they way they rerouted the road up there. Actually, the road going to the tower could be half dangerous if it was slick now. Instead of going up the north ridge, where you could look off in a couple of spots down into Logan canyon, it cuts across the east facing side of the peak, like where that dude used to roll the tires into the rodeo grounds and then circles back and heads up the ridge on the south side so when you first see the radio towers you are looking at them from the south.
The dumb thing is the road is really wide and flat but it has a bad slope to the downhill side. If it was icy and you started to slide, there is nothing keeping you from going off the edge. It could get ugly. Other than that though it would be just like it used to be.
