Well I really just need the core. I plan on building a stroker so a reman might be a little overkill cause ill have no use for all the new parts..

Are you just wanting a stripped block?
A short block is the block, pistons, rods, crank, cam (in block), timing chain & gears--no head.
A long block has the complete head in addition.
If you just need a stripped block, I would locate a part-out from a private party, strip the engine down and have it machined, that way you aren't paying to parts/labor you don't need or want.
