I don't think it's wax, or paint. It looks like a Jeep to me. :greensmok

Thats new paint, I don't recall the flares being same color as the body on the pre-97's.

Nice looking rig!

When I repainted my 90 I used 96 "Country" color codes for the body/flares but the flares on the RENIX models were a darker gray than on the later models.

My dads 85 Larado had body colored flares.

His is the second one over. That is sitting on the dealer lot in 1984

Matching fender flares is how it came originally. There are a couple things that may give it away. Missing trim and emblems, the gold pinstripe is now black and it’s too shiny. Most Cherokees from around that year the clear coat flaked off. Now that it’s looking good it’s time for lift tires and wheels.

My bad! I was working at a Jeep dealer when the first XJ's rolled out in 84, for some reason I didn't remember the flares being body color.

You are correct. I put the later model mirrors on it the old ones were falling apart.

It should be enough, but unfortunately it isn't for ROTM.
I just switched to red so my Jeep would count.... which sucks since I had half a year left on Green.

That's a hell of a shiny rig, I only hope my MJ looks like that once I'm done with the body work!

(side note - now that I've said that, you should all invest in 3M, the makers of Bondo... :roflmao:)
