Hi

I live in Ottawa Canada :canada: and my girl friend and I where thinking of going to MOAB next summer. That or the beach in Mexico . The trip distance is 2200 miles so I would have to plan for about 1000$ of fuel there and back.

My XJ is really a stocker for now, could put a 2" lift and 30" A/T tires. Because of the distance, I wont get mud ar rock crawler tires.

Can someone tell me if we will be able to do some trails on the way there or over in Moab with a stocker?

If any of you live in the path, whats to see and do?

Thanks a lot :NAXJA:

Hey Frank, Moab in the summer is alot like the beach in Mexico in the summer....without an ocean to cool you off. Late June temps hit the upper 90s which carry through August when the monsoons cool things off a bit. The desert will be in bloom in June, cactus and yucca are beautiful this time of year.

That being said, come on down....you can always cool off on a raft trip down the Colorado which carved out the canyons of the Moab area for the last few million years.

A 2" lift and 30's will allow you to do many of Moab's trails, Hell's Revenge, Poison Spider Mesa, Porcupine Rim, Top O the World, Secret Spire, Chicken Corners, 7 Mile and more.......not to mention the Alpine Loop around the 13,000 ft peaks that shadow Moab to the east.

There's more that a weeks worth of stuff to check out like Arches and Canyonlands Natl Parks so you can mix in some Jeeping, hiking, rafting, exploring. DO NOT forget your digi-camera with lots of storage space.

Have you decided when you're taking your trip? The IC spring run (http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=100113) is scheduled for April 25 - 28. We had good times this last spring run (http://www.naxja.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=156).

Hook up with the OVO (http://ovo.ca) if you haven't already. They do an annual trip to Moab in the spring. All are welcome and they run a variety of trails so no need to be concerned with being in over your head or anything like that.

I agree, why spend time in the 4wheel Mecca of the world, when you could go to Mexico, drink crappy water and spend Peso's, what the hell is a Peso anyway..:D

Thanks for the responses,

I was thinking of going in the summer, june or august. I see all the pics and most I see are XJ with 8" lift going vertical wall climb. Are the trails well marked and can we get in with only one truck. I mean, not being from there, I would get on the trail by myself. Is there a master list of events for differents trails?

Thanks again
