I have a 96 XJ with 8.25 rear without ABS.My front axle has the bigger ABS axle u-joints.I was just curious. My ps joint went bad and I bought a new non-abs joint and it was too small.Had to get abs one. Also I have the 29 spline shafts and not 27 spline.I was allways told all 96s had 27 spline.Mine was built on 8/31/96.Would that make a difference?

All 1995+ use the larger 5-297x u joints. Mid 1996 was the change over year from 27 to 29 spline, early 96's have 27 late 96's have 29.

Trained Monkeys or skilled parts countermen ? If the are a decent counterman they will know how to use a paper catalog to look up the right parts, or they will know how to cross reference a Spicer 5-297x. AutoZone and Advance both have proven errors in their parts database.

All 1995+ and all ABS D30 use 5-297x u-joints.

Spicer # 5-260X = NAPA # 2100153 = (1 1/16 diameter caps)
Spicer # 5-297X = NAPA # 2100297 = (1 3/16 diameter caps) or Brute Force (Advance Auto): 1-0297BF

Brute Force u-joints are junk.

Spicer 5-297X can be replaced with Spicer #5-760X

While harder to find, the 5-760 joints are significantly stronger.
