Gen light came on, owners manual no help

The Gen light came on today. I'm assuming this is the alternator, or the air conditioner, as it came on when i turned it on.

Alternator, battery, or slippery fan belt. The first two can be tested at the auto parts store. While you are there, buy a new fan belt.

If you have a volt meter...

Engine NOT runing:
voltage across battery terminals ~12 VDC

Engine runing:
voltage across battery terminals ~14 VDC

Try reading voltage with AC on sould be 13-14 VDC
If it's lower than that you may have an issue with the AC electric clutch.

More like 12.5 volts static.

13.0 to 15.3 volts engine running depending on ambient temperature.
