I get an awful vibration through out my XJ when backing up, why would this occur, driveshafts out of balance, transmission, front, rear end what could be the causes? Thanks again guys.

Bad transmission and/or motor mounts??

I would definitely be looking at the transmission mount first, immediately followed by the engine mounts and the bolts that hold the mount brackets to the engine.

agreed on the mounts. open the hood, and have a buddy put it in reverse as you watch the engine. just make sure his foot is on the brake so the jeep doesnt go anywhere.
