How to you remove a shim from A/C compressor clutch

Searched and found many people saying they removed a shim and A/C worked good after 1 was removed. I didn't see one post that said how to do this, so...........How do you remove a shim from the A/C compressors clutch?

It may be a "washer" that is between the clutch and the plate when removing the center bolt.
