87 MJ D-35 VS 89 YJ D-35

ok did some searching on other sites but now im confused. it says I have a M35 in the yj does that stand for metric or something else

The Dana 35 came from the factory on XJ Cherokees, MJ Comanche pickups, Grand Cherokees, and Wranglers. Most or all of the parts are interchangeable. The main differece would be the type of springs used,
(coil or leaf), and where the spring mounts are located. What are you trying to do or figure out? Have you looked for info on some of the other Jeep forums like JeepForum.com or JeepsUnlimted ?

Im atually trying to figure out if I can use xj/mj d-35 shafts for spares or if I need to find yj ones I already have alloy shafts in my axel but I bought it that way so Im not sure about much as to the part numbers etc.

yes, you can. The only difference in shafts are c-clip or non c-clip.
They are the same lengths.
