jeep keeps dying when starting

blazinjames

NAXJA Forum User
I have a 1995 Jeep XJ 4.0 automatic 350xxxkms on it and every time I start the jeep it dies right away, I try and start it again and it dies, I do this a couple times then I give it gas while starting it and put it into gear then it runs fine and I get home

any ideas to what is going on the jeep? what is causing this???

Thanks

Clean the throttle body, IAC port, and the IAC stepper motor's pintle. Be careful, the IAC can break.

When cleaning the TB use throttlebody cleaner not carb cleaner. When cleaning the IAC pay attention to the seating surface of pintle and inside air port. Recommend you remove the IAC from TB for thorough cleaning.
