nut and bolt size ?

I have a 90 xj and it had the 1 inch receiver on it when i got it. i pulled the receiver and i tossed it not thinking to see what size the nuts were. Now i am stuck. Does anyone know what size nut i need to mount a new receiver? My xj has bolts coming through the frame down so nut strips wont work for me.

Ok, they could be standard or metric. There is no way to be sure if it was an OEM installed hitch, dealership, or aftermarket.

Except, a possible clue is the absence of nutstrips from an OEM installation.

Checked the parts catalog, no details for bolts w/o nutstrips.

Don't know if this info will help you at all but I just had to put a new hitch on mine and it used 1/2 bolts both metric and sae. The sizes were 1/2 x 13 and m12 x 1.75. At least it may give you a couple sizes to try.
