Odd, the flat smooth side of the serp belt on my 98 turned brown, there are no brown pulleys or anything, belt looks OK but is squealing at low speeds. Pulling it off now to see if something is not turning.

Generally the most common problems are either a loose belt, a/c compressor locking up or idler pulley bearing going bad....

Power steering pump, replaced it as well as the idler. Nice and quiet now.
