check engien light

I have a 97 upcountry package 150k on the clock, my check engine light will come on for a little while then turn off it always turns off before I can get a code reader hooked up.. any ideas guys, I would SEARCH but my computer is down and I'm useing my phone again any ideas would be great!

Renix are real-time systems, no code storage. OBDI, 91-95 and OBDII 96+ STORE codes. Just hook up the reader/scanner, the codes are there.

Ah I see this is my first none renix era XJ so I don't know chit about throwing codes.. ill try that out, thanks mister peters

Autozones will read the codes for free. Otherwise, as mentioned, you'll need a code reader or a scantool.
