Given some of the bad blood around here from time to time, I'd like to focus on the positive a bit. So to that end, I thought I'd start a public discussion about what you the member/user appreciate and love about NAXJA.

I'll start by saying I love the community here, the amazing tech resources and the diversity this club and site holds...

Thoughts, comments?

Feel the love...

The ammount of knowledge that is out there. For the most part, the people are willing to help out in any way they can also.

Ill add that ive been here for a little over 7 months now, and ive learned an overwelming amount of information about my jeep.

i am confident to take apart and put back together any part of my jeep (sans the gears, they still frighten me) where as before i found this site, i would have been afraid to do an oil change for fear that i would break something and not know what to do.

The people are great, sure there are disputes and harsh words and such (ITS THE INTERNET GET OVER IT) but in general the guys are great, and its a sense of friendship. (at least as friendly as you can be through the interweb)

Its also a great way to meet people in your area and join up for group runs, as well as find help for needed parts or even man power.

I think this site is great, and cant wait till i turn 18 in may so i can finally pay what i owe

Thanks
Travis

LMAO! (chough cough) den (cough cough)

When I came her 5 years ago, wow has it been that long? I knew nothing. I paid to have my oil changed. Now I do everything to my jeep. I love the incrediable knowledge that is here and the willingness to share it. In my life I have always wanted to learn about autos but everyone I talked to was not friendly and willing to teach. If this site has ever helped you solve something that no one else could and helpped you save money on any project you should consider going red. This place would not exist without its members and users. The users need to remember that its us the members that help to pay for it and keep it going. Without NAXJA I would have not meet people like Danno, Andy, Dale, Heather, Don, Mark, Mark, and so many others arround me that sare my love of XJ's.

Yeah, definitely have met some bizarrely interesting (and some just plain bizarre :D ) people that I otherwise most likely would not have met.

Some I now include among my best friends.

All through a shared interest in XJs.

You'll be getting a visit from a couple of well dressed men, driving a dark colored sedan, packing sidearms, that will ransack your house, and all of your personal belongs.

It's amazing...he Lebanese, A tad over the weight limit, surfs porn most of the day...hell he fits into 3 seperate catagories of being a "minority" and he gets treated just like the rest of the White males in our country.

DAMN..America is one fine place!

oh..well there is that one little thing about the NSA renting a house across the street from him, but that bound to be purely coincedental...

Spent Saturday heading out to JV and the Rockin XJ Jamboree. Although I didn't get to wheel with the group, helped whip up 150 hamburgers, bunch o hotdogs and brats to feed a 100 plus XJ enthusiasts and looking around the camp and seein' nuthing but Cherokees.

Interesting that most posters to this thread are in RED.

I'm new to Jeep ownership and wanted to fix mine right for what I was going to do with it.
I "Googled" something about Cherokee forums / repair and found NAXJA.
So far I have learned much, purchased the right parts at the right price, swapped more "stock" parts than I want to think about and spent far too much time here!
Thanks to NAXJA information and related links I have;
Purchased and installed new; tires, brakes, shocks, water pump, fuel pump, surp. belts, head lights, battery, all fluids and more than I want my wife to know about.
Mostly factory parts added / swapped to make my 1996 SE 2 door, 2WD, 5 speed a very "oddly optioned" Jeep; Front tow points, full instrument cluster, dash switches for things I don't have, overhead map lights, 2001 rear springs, PowerTrax limited slip (bought from NAXJA member) factory skid and class III hitch.
Still waiting to install; Headlight wiring upgrade, front vent wings, overhead console, lots of door pockets, rear 2 door windows with vents, "new" rear hatch (mine's shattered from a minor bump) with added heated glass.
I have saved many times the membership cost, know what to take with me (tools, parts, tow straps, good air pump) and had many knowlegable "friends" to help me out.

So, thanks :NAXJA: and all you members out there around the world!
Mike

That is the best part about NAXJA...you can fly out or drive to an event without your rig and they will welcome you (maybe pick at you a little;) ) but is always great.

One of the things I have learned in this life is that the most valuable information I have recieved has always come from mentors. They are people who freely pass on knowledge that they have come by either from others or from doing the brainwork themselves. I seek mentors out as they are people who enrich my life on many different levels. NAXJA has a humongous number of mentors. Due to family commitments and being a single father, I have not had the opportunity to actually meet many of the familiar names here but feel a commraderie nevertheless as my questions are always welcomed and addessed. Like stated above, I've saved tons on garage labor costs and spent tons on parts and tools. In the end I've learned to be relatively self-sufficient. NAXJA has also offered me the opportunity to show my son how to think analytically. In other words, while he does very well scholastically, he's also learning problem solving skills that he may not have otherwise had the opprtunity to come across by helping his Dad with repairing the Jeep.

All that being said, I've alway considered the Daily Newspaper, in whatever town you're in, one of the best deals going when you consider the amount of labor that goes into creating each edition. For its annual dues, NAXJA rates up there as well. Go NAXJA

Squares or wedges?

It depends a lot on if I am feeling Euclidian or Pythagorean at the time... but as long as no less than 4 quarters fit in a sammich-sized Ziplock, and don't create full-sammich sized messes while I gnaw at them (while driving) on the trail, That's all I care.

Now that I think more about it, and without careful research, I'd hypothesize that I favor the square - plumb or "+" cut... Where the crust forms a nice arc upon which to clutch, and the V segments' points aim straight towards the maw. Performing an "X" cut would make odder-shaped portions, much more difficult to de-bag & grub at one handed 'on-the-fly'?
