Mini's take on a bumper

Here's how my my bumper has been coming out. I got the idea for Foxwar71 (http://naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=993533&highlight=rear+bumper)'s bumper, but I wanted more.
I started with this but was convinced(told) that they are not strong enough and are dangerous by a few members.

.25" to 1" steel, I thought it was a good looking weld.

Next step is to make a mount to reinforced my .25" bumper "skin" and add a trailer hitch to tow my bass boat with.

On the .25->1" it doesnt look deep enough, but the pic is hard to tell what your looking at.
