Sparkplug arcing to head

so i was helplessly trying to put squared hose clamps on my radiator hoses today and while checking for leaks with the engine running I heard a clicking noise, after a few moments I noticed that the sparkplug closest to the radiator was sparking from the plug to the head OUTSIDE of the engine. This might explain my misfire code.

checked the boot and it's fine and on tight, anyone seen this before, I have a new set of plugs and an alright set of wires in the back to swap

Look more closely at the boot/wire. How old are the wires?

no more that 2k miles on them but I will replace tomorrow

Seen it before--plugs, in caps. Once a carbon track has formed it will try and follow that path--the path of least resistance--to ground.

dammit joe

i'll replace tomorrow, and maybe the exhaust also
and finish the rear trim
and swap both axles


gonna be a long day

Excessive spark plug gap can make this more likely.

Yep, too large of a gap and the resistance is too great.
