I've been running an idea around in my head for the last few years but I've always jumped on it too late.
I would really like us, as a chapter to pick a family who is struggeling and give them some help during the holidays.
My thoughts are we could pick a family here in the next couple of months, get the kids info so we know what age apropriate toys and clothing items they could use and maybe even sneak a Christmas wish list from the parents and then right before Christmas we can show up in a rolling parade of Jeeps and give the gifts to the family.
So if any of you know of a family in need, please PM me. I don't want to have anyone post up publicly about someone they know, just in case they don't want the attention so just get back to me in private.
So what do you think? Good idea or no?

My situation is up and down right now, if I can I will. Wish I could be more concrete as I've done this before, but can't commit 100% right now. It'll be September before I know for sure what and if I can give.
If you haven't done this before, there's almost nothing more rewarding than going out and buying these kids presents and maybe even helping the parents a bit. These kids know nothing except they may not get presents for Christmas. We love doing this and doing it whenever we can. It's hard not to open your wallet when you get going on this. What if your kids had no presents?

I totally understand that not everyone will be able to help buy stuff. Even if you can't throw any money in, just having a large group together should mean something.
I would like this to be a chapter wide effort, even I it's just helping to pass out the gifts.

I doubt that I would be able to participate in any kind of rolling parade, but keep me posted and would really like to help out with a donation to help cover the expenses.

The whole chapter couldn't clothe or feed your clan.

I'm in for sure. Don't know of any families, but I've done this a few times with scouts and as a class project and it's an awesome experience!
If we can't find a family, what about the battered women shelter? They can always use help, and a lot of them have kids with them. Just a back up idea.
