I use my jeep for work. I needed a strong roof rack. looks like its screwed in where the factory mounts were.

it looks pretty awesome BUT im kind of skeptical about using the stock mounting holes... they just dont seem like they would be as strong as say the gutter rails

I'd say as long as you have a decent backing plate below the roof metal, it'll probably be pretty strong.

I don't think it'd hurt to tie it into the gutter rails in a few spots, maybe two on each side. Those mounts aren't very expensive.

Ripped the stock roofrack mounting inserts right out of roof on mine

Nice looking rack though

Looks good. I made one similar and ran a steel bar on the inside and bolted it to that, kinda sandwiching the roof. There is a nice recessed spot for the steel to sit in. I've rubbed rocks, ripped of branches, walked on it... it's plenty strong enough to mount to. I personally like the look of this mounting better than the gutter.
