AW-4 issue

I just got a 89 4.0l, with an AW-4 for a song and a dance, because the tranny is acting funny.

I have a pretty good idea about what is not right, but I thought it better to check with the "fanatics" about it.


The tranny is shift goofy than a pet coon, and it doesn't do it all the time. Sometimes it will jump in and out of Over-Drive when under load, or will go all the way into overdrive at no load, or light load(20 mph).

That is what I thought. I have to admit, I just didn't feel like doing a search the other night.
