OK guys sorry, I just listed these axles way to cheep. I didn't realize what they are worth. The reason I put them up for sale is because I am redoing my front suspension and building a custom three link. All the mounts would have to be cut off. I figured instead off cutting up my bolt in 44's I could sell them and get a 60 for the same amount of money and work.
Come to find out its going to cost more than I thought. I found a good deal on a set locally for 800, but come to find out the front end was a 50 not a 60 :( and they are geared 4.30. I can re-gear them, I need like 5.13's so But $1200 just isn't enough cash to cover the price of the tons and gears. In the mean time I am shopping around for other sets of tons, but I can't seem to find any in the 1200 dollar range. At least not that have 5.13 or so gears like ill need and I wouldn't have much extra cash to put into them.
I am not trying to make a bunch of money off this. I just wont replacement axles that are at least 4.88's locked, selectable hubs, high pinion, and prefure one tons but would consider some built 44's and cash. The deal would need to cover all my costs off getting the replacement in. I already have all my brackets made and link material ready to go, I am putting off doing it for a couple months to see if I can get some one tons. If not, I will just use the axles I already have.
At this point I am up for higher cash offers or trades.
Sorry Justin I know you were first in line, but I just cant get what I wont for $1200:(
What are my axles worth??

i think if you get 1200 you are lucky that front still has stock outters on it. one thing to keep in mind is that not alot of people have alot of cash right now. what dana 44 is that?

dude, I beg to differ. The outers are not stock. Nothings stock about it, well the uni bearings are. The front end is custom made. High pinion 44 with 4340 hardend outer stubs.
With in 12 hours of posting this I had several people willing to drive two hours with cash to buy these, and Justjeep94 is in front of the line.

thats was the plan from the start. Found a good deal on some tons and put my axles for sale. I only asked for enough to cover my swap.

So what's the new price for the D44s? I think something like $4000 would get you enough for some one tons built up.

They are not worth $4000 I would take half that. Guess I just have connections and get stuff done cheep.

I understand shit happens, but I just don't get where you think these axles are worth more than the $1200 you were asking. I thought it was a fair deal. Just because a few members who have the cash are willing to pick them up quickly doesn't mean you are selling them too cheap.
Used parts are normally worth about half of what you paid for them. $800 for the front axle, and $400 for the rear is right on target for guys who know their parts.
My point is do your homework before you post up your for sale thread, not after you made the deal.

And as far as what I paid for the axles, just perks of my job. I use to operated a mobile car press.
The only money I have into them is: gears, bearings, joints and I had the shafts shortened other than that it was just the labor of me setting them up and the beer I bought for my machinist friend who made the sleeves.
The front end started its life as a 2WD beam axle from a zj, The center chunks from a '79 f150

I could easily build these for less than 1200 if the parts were provided, unfortunately I am no longer in the scrap iron industries, so parts are somewhat expensive.

So you almost paid nothing for them and now you want to jack someone for them?
I was shocked anyone would pay more then $1000 for both 44's, but I now hope no one ever buys them from you.

NO, I paid alot more than nothing, I worked my ass off at my job and wasn't making shit, barly 30k a year. In stead of going out with my friends I saved every spare penny and bought all the parts one by one. It took me over two years to get all the parts, tools and materials together (dom, aluminum , hiems, taps, bushings, u-joints, bearing, seals, gears, bearing puller). All wile living in a damn studio apt. with a steep ass gravel driveway to work on my jeep. The front end had a spot next to my little ass piece of shit TV with about three XXXXing channels. I just want to trade all the work I did building them for some one ton axles. That's it. I paid hell of a lot more than nothing.
I am being completely honest and not trying to jack anybody. It took alot of hard work and careful planing putting these together and they turned XXXXing tits. I just wish they were bigger is all. A lot of people can't fabricate or have the know how to pull this off and this could be a good deal for somebody.
Why the hell do you care anyway? The guy I was going to sell them to(justjeep94) understands, sure he's pissed as am I, he might still end up with them anyway, If I dont build him a 44 of his own. I told him exactly what was going on, no BS.
I think its great that you guys are standing up for fellow members, but cut me some slack. I am being honust and not trying to rip anybody off. fawk

im a little curious why you want "built" 44s when you have some "built" 44s?
i consider gears, wj steering, locker, d44 center section is fairly built?
i understand you dont have selectable hubs and hp, but 1200 is lot right now. i ask 750$ obo for my rear expecting to get offers in the 600-650 range.
id assume asking 1200 for these you expect to get 1000-1200, and asking 2000 youd expect to get 1400-1800.
things are tight right now and guys are wheeling what they have instead of buying parts
that being said,
i think the front having the gears/locker/wj steering/d44 center section/chromo outers/steering is worth about 700-850$ and the rear is around 600-700$ since its a 44/trussed/geared/locked. i dont think you meant harm to raise the price, and it sucks being broke. also selling axles for a combo deal is hard becuase now the buyer needs more cash ...
as for the dana 50 It sucks getting someone on craigslist or anywhere else to lie about parts, i see alot of jeeps that are total crap due to the seller lying his a$$ off.

Thanks, I am no salesman. Generally I don't like most sales people.I originally asked to get 1200 and thats what I wanted no less. I am the rare type that usually pays what people are asking if I think its fair. But im starting to change after losing my ass a couple times.
To clarify A couple things. The front is a high pinion, open dif and I don't think the rear end is worth any more than about 5-600. The truss is ugly and it needs a new pinion seal. The limited slip is stock with thick cut 4.88 rubicon gears.
And yes the reason I would consider a trade for a build 44 would be the selectable hubs and stronger stub axles and I have to cut all my mounts off anyway.
Its starting to look more and more like Justen will get my axles for 1200 and some loaner stock axles.

Upping the price was a total bitch move. Just because you got jipped from a c-list user doesn't mean you can pawn that type of behavior off onto this community, which is what naxja is, therefore a higher level of respect is expected. I think you'll be very lucky to get 1200, i wouldn't pay a dime more.

i thought the front was locked....
you can buy a well built 44 on CL for like 800 or less, with actual hubs and a detroit or air locker...
and you need custom spare shafts for the front im guessing too?
that means the axle isnt as great a deal since spares will be pricey.
also the rear being a LS and not a full locker makes it worth like maybe 400-500.
i sold my last LS xj44 with 4.11 gears for 420$
im hoping to get a little more for my current axle or ill just keep it as a spare
also, i posted a bunch of CL axles on the for sale forum i found that seemed to be good deals for built up 3/4 ton or one ton axles for around 1200$.
i will agree that its a major bitch move.
personally i wouldnt pay more than 500 for that front since it needs custom spare shafts, needs a locker, and it doesnt have selectable hubs .
id be happier keeping my 30 in the front when i know i can get stock shafts and parts for dirt cheap
450-600 for the rear as well since it is a xj 44 with gears but only a LS

hmmm last I checked custom 4340 shafts from moser were priced the same as 4340 factory length replacements, but that was a few years back when I was building the axle. xj hp 30's are pretty nice and have there place-there brakes are garbage though.
